Looking for “Future Education Leaders”: Graduate Recruitment Online Session Successfully Held

Aiming to expand discipline influence and attract high-quality students, the Faculty of Education, ECNU held a two-day graduate recruitment session via the livestream platform Blibli from July 18 to 19, 2020. The livestream lasted 6-7 hours per day. It attracted tens of thousands of students from all over the country, and the cumulative number of viewers reached more than 48,000.

At the recruitment session, nearly 40 members of the Faculty with an attracting broadcast lineup, led by Professor Ke Zheng, Associate Dean of Faculty of Education, including the leaders from 12 graduate cultivating departments, backbone teachers and student representatives, showed up to introduce the departments, professional characteristics and share experiences, so as to display its unique charm and style of ECNU’s education discipline to students across the country.

The recruitment session was conducted through video recording and online live broadcast. The graduate cultivating departments of the Faculty of Education attached great importance to it. Almost all departments had been preparing for the session intensively under the guidance of the departments heads since late June. They had carefully recorded professional videos, introducing their characteristics in detail in terms of discipline foundation, historical evolution, talent cultivation, research direction, teaching staff, curriculum, employment orientation, etc. Moreover, they patiently answered questions during the livestream, regarding admission policy, re-examination, tutor selection, teaching resources, international exchange issues.

This online session is a reform and exploration on graduate recruitment publicity methods. The livestream recruitment at Blibli offered more opportunities for students all over China to communicate directly with teachers and students of the Faculty of Education, whom interacted with the audiences actively and answered questions without reserve. Steady flows of Danmu (bullet comments) were displaying students’ yearning and expectation for becoming as ECNUers studying at Faculty of Education.
