Introduction

Pei Xinning is a professor in the School of Teacher Education and the Co-director of the Learning Sciences Center. She has been engaged in research and teaching of science education and has been principal investigators or coordinators of over ten international and national research projects. She is an author or translator of more than ten books as well as an author of dozens of articles and is known for her research work in instructional design and K-12 science education.

As the director/Co-director of LSC which is the home to a group of leading researchers in the fields of research on learning and instruction, technological design, as well as science and technology education in China, she, together with her group, has kept close academic links and cooperation with leading research teams from the U.S., Switzerland, Germany, Australia, Hong Kong, Macao, France, etc., mainly in the fields of science education and the sciences of learning.

In 2008, she was awarded of “Pu Jiang Talents Program” from Shanghai Government, and then she was invited by Macao Government to be responsible for programs of science curriculum and teachers’ professional development from June of 2009 to June of 2010. After that, she jointly planned and organized informal science learning activities at the site of Shanghai World Expo. She has also served as international scientific committee or advisory committee to participate in several important international conferences on science education.
