Introduction

Yan Guangcai is a professor and the director of Institute of Higher Education at East China Normal University and the distinguished professor of Changjiang Scholars Program of Ministry of Education. He was awarded New Century Talent Project of Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the talent for Cultural Master& “Four Batches” Project of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and the leading talent of philosophy and social science research for National Ten Thousand Talents Program. He also serves as the executive member and member of academic committee of China Association of Higher Education (CAHE), the vice president of Higher Education Professional Committee of CAHE, the vice president of Association for Chinese Colleges and Universities Research and the vice president of Shanghai Association of Higher Education.

For realistic problems, he has been leading his team to adhere to the combination of academic exploration and policy study and conduct lots of evidence-based studies. He mainly focuses on the fields of high education theory, professional development of college teachers, academic management and policy, career development ability of undergraduates, academic degree and postgraduate education, etc. He has hosted many vertical projects, such as key research projects in philosophy and social science of Ministry of Education, projects of National Social Science Fund, surface projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, projects of Shanghai Philosophy and Social Science Planning, major projects of Beijing Philosophy and Social Science Planning, major projects on educational science of Ministry of Education, and many horizontal projects of Ministry of Education, such as the projects of Department of Development Planning, Office of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, Department of Science and Technology and Department of Teacher Education.

He has published four monographs in the above related fields and more than 150 papers in Educational Research, Peking University Education Review, Journal of Higher Education, DUSHU and other authoritative journals, and ten papers are reprinted by Xinhua Digest and China Social Sciences Digest. He has won the First and Second Prizes of Shanghai Outstanding Achievement Award for Philosophy and Social Science for many times, the Third Prize of Outstanding Achievement Award for College Humanities and Social Sciences and the First Prize of Shanghai Outstanding Achievement Award for Educational Science. Many of his consulting reports and expert proposes have been adopted by the Ministry of Education.
