Delegation of The University of Haifa Visits The Faculty of Education to Explore Educational Research Collaboration

On the afternoon of March 24, 2016, Professor David Faraggi, President of the University of Haifa, Israel, and Professor Lily Orland-Barak, Dean of the Faculty of Education, led a delegation of 10 faculty members of the Faculty of Education to visit the Faculty of Education of ECNU to explore the possibility of research cooperation in the field of education. Prof. Wang Haiping, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Faculty of Education, Zhou Bin, Director of Development Planning Division, Yang Fuyi, Director of International Affairs Division, Zhao Qi and Shao Xiaohong, from the Teaching Affairs Division, attended the meeting, which was hosted by Yang Fuyi.

President David Faraggi said that Haifa University and East China Normal University have carried out a wide range of cooperation at university level, such as joint doctoral and master training programs, and 3+4 training projects. This visit was mainly to explore and promote the field of education related cooperation. Wang Haiping gave a warm welcome to the delegation and expressed her great expectation to the further long-lasting collaboration between the two sides. She then gave a brief introduction on the faculty, and pointed out that the faculty has made great contributions to the reform and development of Chinese education in the aspects of basic education theory, education policy, school reform and so on. Finally she emphasized that international exchanges and cooperation are the priority and key development strategy of the Faculty of Education. University of Haifa is our important partner, we hope to cooperate with them in many aspects, such as joint research, staff visit and student exchange programs.

Nearly half of visitors from the University of Haifa came from the Department of Learning Disabilities and the Department of Special Education. Wang Haiping and Yang Fuyi talked with them about special education and learning barriers. Wang and Yang suggested to facilitate the family and early intervention projects in children and to carry out cooperative research, establish institutions and research units of a joint research center or laboratory from different countries, and unfold joint research or a cross-cultural comparative study, etc.; Professor Zhou Bin communicated with Professor Lily Orland-Barak on teacher training and education management; Shao Xiaohong and Zhao Qi talked with the guests on summer program for undergraduate students and exchange programs for graduate students .
At the same time, Professor Michal Yerushalmy, Vice President of University of Haifa, and Prof. Roza Leikin and Dr. Shai Olsher from the School of Education, visited the Cao Yang Second Middle School to exchange opinions and interact in mathematics education and other fields.
