Seeking Educational Consciousness in the Process of Internationalization

Organized by National Training Center for Secondary School Principals of Ministry of Education, Guanghua Education Group hosted the “Chinese and Foreign Education Integration and Innovation” private school principals forum on September 24, 2016 at Fudan Alumni Club. Dai Ruhua, Shen Yushun and Liu Lili, Director and Deputy Directors of National Training Center for Secondary School Principals of Ministry of Education attended and commented in the forum. The trainees of the second round of Shanghai Municipal private (project) school principals training program, the trainees of principals training program for teachers’ training institutes at Yangtze River Delta region, Shen Jun, the principal of Beijing Bayi secondary school , Pan Xiaofu, principal of Jiangsu Zhenjiang foreign language school and other well-known secondary school principals were invited to participate in this forum.

Peng Jingci, vice principal of Beijing Haijia International Bilingual School, Lin Weimin, principal of Foreign Language School of Beijing Foreign Studies Universtiy, Li Zewu, principal of Chengdu Huadefu School, Lin Min, principal of Shanghai Xiwai International School, Lei Dongdong, principal of Cambridge International Center of Shanghai Guanghua College, Gao Jinhui, executive principal of Northeast Yucai Foreign Language School, Wang Zhanbao, principal of Nanjing Hankai Academy, and Li Hailin, principal of Shanghai New Age bilingual school, made keynote speeches at the forum. The eight speakers were scholars on education, all of them had worked as principals of public schools, and now are serving at private international schools. They shared their theoretic thoughts and abundant practices on foundation, value, mission and methods of integration and innovation for Chinese and foreign education, concerning international education concepts, core quality of future talent, international curriculum integration and reconstruction, the mission of international schools and so on.

Commentators, keynote principals and guests had enthusiastic discussions on “the unique value of education in China”, “where Chinese and foreign education may meet”, “Western educational philosophy in China, the possibility of local practice”, “international school mission and value” and other issues carried out a full and enthusiastic discussion. Professor Dai Ruihua in the forum summarized with “self-confidence, open, diverse, inclusive” four key words to conclude the  acquisition on discussion about Chinese and foreign education integration and innovation. He believes that the school principals both showed their ideas based on the action, but also shared their actions based on thinking, and a much more valuable thing is showing the improvements based on thinking. Education internationalization not only requires us to take initiative to enter the education situation of the world, to perceive the world, actively absorb the essence of education of the world, to maintain self-uniqueness on the basis of sustained roots in the land of China based on an international perspective of education reform and development, but also needs to take initiative to influence, lead, and showcase the style of Chinese education in the process of education internationalization.
