Delegation from University of Kansas, USA Visits Faculty of Education

On October 11th, a 9-member delegation headed by Prof. Rick Ginsberg (Dean of School of Education, University of Kansas, USA) visited the Faculty of Education, ECNU, including Prof. Neal Kingston (University Distinguished Professor, Director of Assessment & Achievement Institute; Professor of the Department of Educational Psychology), Lisa wolf Wendel (Associate Dean of School of Education; Professor of Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies), Kelli Thomas (Associate Dean of School of Education; Professor of Department of Curriculum & Teaching), David Hansen (Director of Department of Educational Psychology), Michael Weyhmeyer (Director of Department of Special Education), Steve White (Director of Department of Curriculum & Teaching), Yang Zhao (Distinguished professor of the University of Kansas), Lauri Herrmann-Ginsberg (Instructor of Department of Curriculum & Teaching), Sheree Willis (Director of Confucius Institute, University of Kansas).

Representatives from the Faculty of Education, ECNU, attended the conference, including Yuan Zhenguo (Dean of Faculty of Education), Yang Fuyi (Associate Dean of Faculty of Education), Yang Xiangdong (Director of Department of Educational Psychology), Hu Yaozong (Director of Department of Educational Administration), Hu Lijuan (Associate Director of Department of Educational Administration), Li Mei (Secretary of Communist Party Committee Branch of Institute of Higher Education), Wang Zhe (Associate Professor of Department of Curriculum and Education) and Qiu Yue (Director of the International Affairs Division).

Dean Yuan Zhenguo introduced to the guests the important measures taken by the Faculty of Education in promoting internationalization: 1. The internationalization of the faculty of the Faculty of Education; 2. The establishment of in-depth cooperation with the world’s leading education institutes, especially introduced the original intention, cooperation mode and development of the “International Academic Exchange Week”; 3. Active participation in influential international conferences; 4. The establishment of the English journal ECNU Review of Education. Dean Ginsberg also gave a detailed introduction to the geographical location, major ranking and discipline characteristics of the School of Education of University of Kansas, especially the strong discipline, Special Education, as well as the professional development of education evaluation and measurement. The participants of the two sides then conducted group exchanges on their respective research fields, and finally reached an agreement. Starting with “International Academic Exchange Week”, the two sides look forward to find a suitable cooperation mode based on  on-the-spot academic observation and visits in the near future.
