“ECNU Is a Global Powerhouse in Educational Research” ——The Faculty of Education Holds an Academic Reception in Toronto, Canada

On 6th April, the Faculty of Education, ECNU, held an academic reception in Toronto, Canada. Nearly 200 scholars from around the world attended the reception, including Professor Rick Ginsberg (Dean of School of Education, University of Kansas), Professor Michael W. Apple, (an internationally renowned scholar of critical education sociology), and Professor Thomas S. Popkewitz, (from University of Wisconsin). The seminar was hosted by Professor Zhao Yong, (Global Chair Professor of East China Normal University).

In the meeting, Professor Rick Ginsbergas a special invited guest firstly gave a speech, he said, “ECNU is a global powerhouse in educational research”. And gave an exceptionally high comment on the development of educational research of ECNU.

Professor Yuan Zhenguo, Dean of Faculty of Education,ECNU, made a presentation to introduce the current development situation, strategies and measures of the Faculty, especially in talent cultivation, academic research, international communication, and recruitment scheme etc. Ren Yan from ECNU Personnel Department also introduced the talent recruitment system of ECNU. During the interaction, Professor Michael W. Apple said passionately, “ECNU is my second hometown”, and Professor Thomas S. Popkewitz affectionately declared “Excellent graduates from ECNU are the best gifts to me.”

Thanks to the platform provided by American Education Research Association (AERA) Annual Conference 2019, the Faculty of Education took opportunities to communicate with the world. The theme of AERA 2019 is “Leveraging Education Research in a “Post-Truth” Era: Multimodal Narratives to Democratize Evidence”. A total of 23 papers from Faculty of Education, ECNU, had been accepted by the conference, with the highest number of accepted papers and the largest number of participants in recent years at ECNU.

During the 5-day AERA conference, teachers and students of the Faculty of Education made nearly 20 academic reports through group meetings, round-table discussion. They exchanged and shared research results and academic views, spread the voices of Chinese scholars, which expanded international influence of ECNU in educational disciplines.
