The Faculty of Education and the Erickson Institute Hold an Online Meeting

At 8:30 p.m. on June 3, Beijing time, the Faculty of Education, ECNU and the U.S. Erickson Institute (for Child Development) held an online meeting on cooperative projects. Representatives of the Erickson Institute attended the meeting: Jie-Qi Chen (Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs), Charle Chang (Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness and Planning), David Behrs (Vice President of Enrollment Management), David Saenz (Director of Enrollment Management) and Yinna Zhang (Project Director, International Initiative). Representatives of the Faculty of Education: Huang Jin (Executive Deputy Secretary of Communist Party Committee), Xun Yuan (Executive Associate Dean), Zhao Qi (Director of Teaching Affairs Division), Qu Yue (Director of the International Affairs Division), officers from the Divisions of Teaching Affairs and International Affairs, and more than 20 students from the Faculty attended the online meeting.

Executive Deputy Secretary Huang Jin first introduced the background of cooperation between the two sides, and traced the academic exchanges and scientific research collaborations between the Department of Preschool Education, ECNU and the Erickson Institute over the years. She said that Erickson Institute is well-known for its world-class graduate education, applied research and professional training, and is committed to promoting educational equity and helping children realize their fullest potential. And she showed her great expectation that the two sides could promote diversified and in-depth exchanges and collaborations in the field of children’s education through this meeting, from which more teachers and students of the Faculty of Education will benefit.

Vice President Jie-Qi Chen expressed her gratitude to ECNU for arranging this meeting. She also recalled her unforgettable experience working as a Zijiang scholar at ECNU a few years ago, and said that the education discipline of East China Normal University has been well received worldwide attention in recent years. With its distinctive characteristics and outstanding advantages, it is the highland of cultivating educational talents in China. As the only graduate school in the United States dedicated to the development and early education of children aged 0 to 8, the Erickson Institute is very much looking forward to, based on the former exchange activities, expanding more possibilities for collaboration in research fields such as child development, social work, and early education.

Afterwards, the two sides introduced the recent developments of their institutions, conducted in-depth discussions on  “3+1+1”  bachelor-master degree program ,  “1+1+1” master degree program, International Academic Exchange Week program, and scholar visit program, and interacted with the teachers and students online. At the end of the meeting, Xun Yuan, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Education, concluded that international exchanges and cooperation have always been the primary development strategy at Faculty of Education, we always value cooperation with world-class universities and research institutions, and hope that both sides actively promote and implement the target programs, and achieve more collaboration fruits in the near future.
