About us —— Institute of Vocational & Adult Education

Founded in March 2002, Institute of Vocational & Adult Education(IVAE) is integrated from the former Vocational Education Institute and the former Adult Education Institute. Currently, within the institute there are nine research centers, which are vocational education research center, adult education research center, community education research center, a university-level talent development research center, Sino-Danish working & learning research center, research center for Sino-Japanese vocational education, Daisaku Ikeda research center for social education, career management research center, and Sino – British work and learning research center. Furthermore, there are two national training bases attached to it as well.

IVAW was the first one granting the Master and PhD degree of Vocational and Technical Education and Adult Education in China, and became a leading center for research and teaching in vocational and adult education, committing to conduct leading-edge research and cultivate high-level professionals. In additionwith a variety of off-campus research bases, the Institute provides practicing places for scientific research and postgraduate education. In recent decadesIVAE has completed nearly 100 national and provincial research projects, and has published about 80 academic works. These research achievements not only make a great contribution to the theoretical innovation and practical problems solving, but also lead the development of these disciplines in the whole country. Besides, the Institute also actively expands the academic communication with domestic and foreign counterparts, and establishes a close cooperative relationship with the relevant institutions in many countries and regions, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany, Australia, Japan and Korea, as well as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions. Therefore, the postgraduate students and young teachers have better access to international exchange and cooperation.

Now the Institute has 17 staff, 16 of who are with PhD degree. The teaching team includes 6 PhD student supervisors (2 part-time), 5 master student supervisors (1 part-time) and 4 lecturers.
