Delegation of The Faculty of Education of ECNU Visits the University of Victoria, Canada to Host an Education Forum

To further promote the internationalization of the Faculty of Education, Professor Yuan Zhenguo, Dean of the Faculty of Education, led a delegation to Canada to hold the East China Normal University Education Forum to and carry out academic exchanges on April 13, 2016. The delegation members were including Prof. Zhoubin, Prof. Huang Zhongjing, Prof. Yang Xiang, Prof. Xun Yuan and Yang Fuyi from different departments of the Faculty of Education.


On April 13, the East China Normal University Education Forum opened as the theme of “Sharing Our Puzzles: Fundamental Educational Questions in China and Canada.” Yuan Zhenguo delivered the report “Roles of Education Research in China’s Education Policy-making”; Huang Zhongjing shared the experience of Shanghai from the perspective of teacher’s professional development in the report “Shanghai Experience: The perspective of a Teacher”; Yang Fuyi introduced China’s special education by the report “Special Education Teachers’ Professional Development in China”; Yang Xiangdong gave the report “Toward an Explanatory Scale of Cognently Designed Math Story Problem” to share his own research; Zhou Bin gave the report “Which Kind of Merit Pay can Motivate Teachers?”; Xun Yuan combined with his own practical work experience at Lanzhou City University as an example to share his opinions on the reform and development of local four-year undergraduate colleges by delivering a report “The Transformation and Development of the Local Four-Year Undergraduate Colleges: A Case Study of Lanzhou City University.



Prof. Ralf St. Clair, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Victoria University, gave a presentation on “When Counting Shows What Counts: The Philosophy of the University Behind the Rankings”; Professor Donna McGhie-Richmond exchanged her view on “Preparing Teachers for Student Diversity”; Deborah Begoray and Dr. James Nahachewsky shared to present a topic on “Multiliteracies as Foundations for Student Centered Learning”.
