From April 6th to 7th, Lin Fulai, Professor of the Department of Mathematics at National Taiwan Normal University, was invited to do an academic exchange with the staff of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at ECNU.
On the afternoon of April 6th, Professor Lin Fulai, Professor Kong Yuping and Professor Xu Binyan participated in an academic exchange seminar with master and doctoral students in the course of mathematics education.
On the afternoon of April 7th, Prof. Lin Fulai made a wonderful academic report entitled “Mathematical Assumption Pedagogy – Learning and Teaching” in the historical building.
In the course of the lecture, Lin Fulai introduced the development of different fields of mathematics education by combining his own educational experience. From “mathematical research” to “future mathematics education,” there are eight different kinds of turning points, which brought great inspiration to the teachers and students present.
Professor Lin pointed out the meaning of “speculation” in speculative pedagogy. And through the round table formula, the complete square formula, Helen formula and a series of vivid examples, he made the participants obtain more in-depth understanding of what is mathematical speculation education. He believes that letting students participate in the rationalization of mathematical activities is a very critical part.
Finally, Professor Lin Fulai summarized the curriculum of mathematical speculation, including the mathematical foundation laying activities before class, various learning activities in the class, diagnostic speculation, and after-class tutoring and remedial teaching.
