International Academic Exchange Week | Delegation of Faculty of Education, ECNU Visits Monash University

From September 28 to October 4, 2019, a delegation composed of Associate Professor Chen Lianjun (Deputy Director of the Department of Special Education), Associate Professor Zhao Li (Institute of Higher Education), and Ph.D students Qin Yiming and Yan Lingyan from the Department of Education Science, visited Monash University for “International Academic Exchange Week”. This is the second delegation visit to Monash University since the signing of International Academic Exchange Week Agreement last year.

Associate Professor Graham Parr (Associate Dean of International Affairs Division), Dr. Kate De Bruin, Dr. Philip Chan, and Dr. Hongzhi Zhang from Faculty of Education, Monash University, welcomed the delegation members and had an academic discussion.

The discussion focused on short-term students’ exchange, professional development on special education research field, and university administrative staff training for improving internationalization level. Kate first introduced the experience and projects of Faculty of Education of Monash University in promoting inclusive learning for students with special needs and training for university administrative staff. Chen Lianjun and Zhao Li also shared the progress and measures related to special education and staff training in China. In addition, the two sides also discussed future collaborations.

During the visit, the delegation also participated in the “Spring School Forum” organized by Monash University, and had academic exchanges with teachers and students from world-famous universities like Stanford University, Oxford University, McGill University and etc.

The delegation also participated in the Monash Education Union Annual Conference (MERC Annual Conference). At the meeting, Qin Yiming and Yan Lingyan gave reports entitled “Construction of Cross-cultural Groupness in School Ritual: a Field Study in Shanghai” and “Knowledge Production of Teacher Professional Development in China” respectively.
