‘The Peak Forum of Artificial Intelligence and Future Education’ Is Held at ECNU | Thousands of Experts and Scholars Have a Transboundary Discussion on the Future of Artificial Intelligence in

On May 13th, a large public forum about ‘Artificial Intelligence and Future Education’ was held in Zhongbei Campus of ECNU. Thousands of experts and scholars from home and abroad gathered and had a transboundary discussion on the application and development of artificial intelligence in the field of education. The opening ceremony of the forum was hosted by Mei Bing, the vice president of ECNU.




At first, Prof. Tong Shijun, the Secretary of the Party Committee of ECNU and Zhu Yongxin, the vice chairman of the Central Committee of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), the vice president of the Chinese Society of Education, and the initiator of the new education experiment, delivered a speech respectively.



After the opening ceremony, the morning forum focused on two issues— ‘Outlook on the Future of Education’ and ‘How Artificial Intelligence Can Change Education.’ Professor Zhu Yongxin delivered a keynote speech on the concept of a ‘Future Learning Center’.

Xu Ziwang, the co-founder of Shanghai Xiwai International School and the former partner of Goldman Sachs, made a keynote speech on ‘If the Development of the World Is Really Approaching Singularity, Does Education Need to Change’.


According to the issues in ‘Artificial Intelligence and Future Education’, Professor Lu Bai of Tsinghua University, also the editor-in-chief of the new media “The Intellectual,” made a speech.


Then, Chu Junhao, who is the academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and the dean of Information Science and Technology College of our university, divided his speech into three parts—the review of all previous industrial revolutions, welcoming the Intelligent Age and ‘Artificial Intelligence and Future Education.’


Mitch Rosenberg, the American expert of artificial intelligence, robots and education, and the co-founder of KinderLab Robotics also delivered a speech on ‘the Pilot Practice of Early-Childhood Science and Technology Education in America.’


After Mr. Mitch Rosenberg’s speech, Pu Geguang, the vice dean of School of Computer Science and Software Engineering of ECNU and the deputy director of Shanghai High Trustworthy Computing Laboratory, discussed the effective means of solving the problems in the future education in his speech with the title of “The Silver Bullet of Education: a Computational Viewpoint.”


At the end of the morning forum, Zou Hao’s speech was titled “The Deep Neural Network and the Future of Education,” Zou Hao is an expert of machine learning and quantitative finance, the founder of Abundy Inc. in Silicon Valley and was named as a ‘Global Youth Leader’ by the 2017 World Economic Forum.


The forum in the afternoon focused on ‘Artificial Intelligence and Learning Revolution’ and ‘the Opportunities and Challenges of Artificial Intelligence in Education.’ Wu Xiao, the vice president of IFLYTEK, and the senior engineer, delivered the first speech on ‘Everyone Should Have An Artificial Intelligence Teaching Assistant’.


Then, Fu Cairui, the founder of Hujiang and a well-known young entrepreneur, gave his speech titled as “Intelligence Leading the Future.”


Guan Xin, the founder of Kuan Capital and investor of Singularity University, made a speech on ‘the Future of Education and Artificial Intelligence’.


After Mr. Guan’s speech, Zhu Huayong, the dean of Rongyi Research College and the former director of Unmanned System Research Institute in National University of Defense Technology, took ‘the Influence of Group Intelligence on Personalized Learning in the Future’ as the main content of his speech.


Tang Min, the counselor of the State Department and the vice executive president of the Youcheng China Social Entrepreneur Foundation, delivered a speech on ‘the Future of Education and New Mentorship’.


Xiang Xianming, who is the member of Chinese Thirty-People Education Forum, the professor of The Institute of Education Science of Nanjing Normal University and a doctoral supervisor, focused his speech on ‘the Task of Artificial Intelligence and Future Education’.


Then, Zhang Yizhong, an expert of American ACM Computer Association and the founder of Shanghai STEM Cloud Center, said that STEM Education would bring hope to people according to his speech—”The Revolution of STEM Education.”


After that, Ku Yixuan, the associate professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of Psychology and Cognition Science of ECNU, delivered a speech on ‘Memory Decoding and Future Education’.


Finally, the concluding statement was made by Yuan Zhenguo, Dean of the Faculty of Education at ECNU, the vice president of The Chinese Society of Education and the vice president of Chinese Society of Education Development.




This forum was organized by ECNU and China Education 30 Forum and was supported by ECNU Alumni Association, Faculty of Education, ECNU Academic Journal (Education Science Edition) and the new media “The Intellectual.” Apart from the main meeting site, there were two online meeting sites. The number of people watching the Tencent live broadcast were more than 56 thousand.
