On September 13th, 2018, Dr. Dilson Rassier (Dean of Faculty of Education, McGill University), Mr. Alvin Chung (Director of Asia Pacific Office) and Ms. Caroline Sia (Director of Education Programs of McGill International Institute of Education) visited the Faculty of Education, ECNU. Yuan Zhenguo (Dean of Faculty of Education), Yang Fuyi (Director of the International Affairs Division), Qu Yue (Officer of the International Affairs Division) and Sun Yi (Officer of International Exchange Division of ECNU) attended the meeting.
During the talks, Dean Yuan Zhenguo welcomed the delegation of McGill University on behalf of the Faculty of Education, and introduced the important measures of the Faculty in promoting the internationalization process, including: active participation in cooperative research with OECD, a large international academic research organization; international joint laboratory collaborative research projects; a long-term mechanism for exchange visits of teachers and students with international high-level universities; the “International Academic Exchange Week” program with internationally renowned universities; the Global Education Deans’ Forum to be held in October 2018; the establishment of the English journal ECNU Review of Education, etc. Dean Dilson Rassier introduced the basics of McGill University’s Faculty of Education and expressed their intention to expand international collaborations.
Both sides stated that they would actively promote the signing of the cooperation and exchange agreement between the two universities, and agreed to start with “International Academic Exchange Week” and would have various academic exchanges and collaboration in related fields. At the same time, the two sides decided to meet again during the AERA conference in Toronto, Canada, next April to further discuss the details of multiple project collaborations.
